Up in tea country the air turns cool. Nuwara Eliya, close to 1,900 metres up, still has the colonial cottages and racecourse the British left behind, and every slope around it is planted in neat green rows of tea.
Ella is the backpacker village further down the hills: waterfalls, the Nine Arch Bridge, and a string of hostels where travellers swap tips for the next stop. Most of my photos from Ella are waterfalls.
