The last days were for the pyramids. The Great Pyramid was the tallest structure on Earth for almost 4,000 years, and up close each block is taller than your knee. The Sphinx is smaller than you expect and better than you hope.
The Grand Egyptian Museum next door holds Tutankhamun’s treasures and Khufu’s 4,500-year-old cedar boat. I flew home via Jeddah on 16 October.
