Egypt was the biggest country on this trip and the one that asked the most of me: long journeys, heat, and a history so old it’s hard to take in.

It’s also where I stopped just travelling and built something. Egypt is huge, and people move between cities by bus, train or plane, but once they arrive there’s no easy in-between way to get around town. After Langkawi I noticed the missing scooters everywhere. So I helped a local hostel owner work out the business model, built the website, and we launched with two scooters.

What it taught me

From travelling to building

Egypt was where noticing turned into doing. Two scooters and a website, and the idea that I could do this in every country.
